For families with young children, school catchment is often the deciding factor. In Tengah Town, the picture is still forming — which is actually an opportunity if you time it right.

The Current School Situation Near Tengah

Tengah Town is new. Unlike mature estates with schools at every corner, Tengah’s school infrastructure is being built in phases alongside the housing.

Schools within 2–3km of Tengah Garden Walk EC (current):
– Bukit View Primary School (~2.5km, Bukit Batok)
– Princess Elizabeth Primary School (~2.8km, Bukit Batok)
– St Anthony’s Primary School (~3.5km, Bukit Batok West)
– Jurong Primary School (~4km, Jurong West)

The important caveat: “Within 1km” for Phase 2C priority in the P1 Registration exercise is measured from the child’s registered home address to the school’s main gate. Distance isn’t always intuitive — check MOE’s P1 registration portal with your exact Tengah Garden Walk address (available once the development is TOP’d).

New School Planned for Tengah Town

MOE has announced that a new primary school will be established in Tengah Town as the estate population grows. The school name and exact location are not confirmed as of early 2026.

Given Tengah’s development timeline (first residents moving in from 2025 onwards), the new school is likely to be operational by 2027–2028 — before Tengah Garden Walk EC TOPs.

When the new school opens, residents of Tengah Town (including Tengah Garden Walk EC) who have young children with addresses registered in Tengah will have Phase 2B/2C priority for that school. This is the primary school catchment advantage that “new town” buyers get — you’re in the first cohort of 1km residents.

P1 Registration Timeline for EC Buyers

If you buy Tengah Garden Walk EC with a baby born in 2025–2026:
– EC TOP: 2029–2030
– Child age at TOP: 3–4 years old
– P1 registration year: 2031–2033
– School choice: the new Tengah primary school + existing Bukit Batok options

For families with children who will be starting P1 before 2030 (i.e., born 2024 or earlier), you won’t be using Tengah Garden Walk EC as your registered address — you’ll still be in your current home at P1 registration time.

Secondary and Junior College Options Nearby

For secondary school and JC planning:
– Bukit Batok Secondary School (~2km)
– Dunearn Secondary (~3km)
– Millennia Institute (MI) in Buona Vista is the nearest JC option
– Pioneer Secondary School (~3.5km)

With the Jurong Region Line opening, Tengah residents will have better access to schools along the JRL corridor.

International Schools

For expatriate families or those considering international education:
– Dulwich College Singapore (~6km, Buona Vista)
– Canadian International School (~8km, Lakeside)
– Overseas Family School (~10km, Pasir Ris) — further but accessible

The west Singapore corridor isn’t the traditional international school belt (that’s the east), but Dulwich and CIS are accessible options for Tengah residents via car or JRL + bus.
